Job Summary:
Perform daily, monthly and annual accounting duties to obtain accurate Financial Statements. Ensure that government remittances are prepared on a timely basis.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Financial statement preparation – assist other accountants
- Bank reconciliations
- Administration of corporate credit cards
- Review the daily deposits prepared by Receivable section
- Analyze and remit payment for all real property, personal and business taxes
- Remit all payroll related government remittances
- Responsible for remitting U.S. sales and use taxes
- Accounting duties related to commercial rental properties
- Workers compensation, vehicle and property insurance of the company
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll analysis reports
- Record accruals and payroll entries
- General ledger account analysis & reconciliation
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Complete monthly working paper reconciliations and accruals
Other Duties, but not limited to:
- Renew auto and general insurance
- Backup for other accountants
- Other reports & projects as requested
Qualifications:
- Completion of university or college, with a focus on accounting
- 3rd or 4th year CGA, CMA, or CA student or equivalent
- Two to three years of accounting experience required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel required
- Knowledge of AS400 / IFM an asset
- Ability to work with numbers quickly and accurately
- Good organizational skills
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to use a computerized accounting system, with skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database software and accounting software
- Respect for confidentiality
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, and get along with other people
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Working Conditions:
- 40 hour work week
