Our client, a leading company in their manufacturing industry is looking for an experienced Production Manager.

 

The right candidate will be not only be experienced in manufacturing but also a leader and mentor of Continuous Improvement for the Company, processes and individuals.

Salary: $85,000 to $90,000 based on experience

Reports to:   Operations Manager

Direct reports: Production and Warehouse staff

 

 

Position Summary:

Position is directly responsible for ensuring manufacturing departments are performing in accordance with specifications and goals. Responsible for effective utilization of equipment, materials, manpower and facility. Active leader in continuous improvement initiatives in the operational areas.

 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Ensure efficient and effective utilization of equipment, Human Resources and material in the manufacturing process to meet daily and long term production & delivery goals
  • Work with staff to create culture through leadership, mentoring and coaching where both company and individuals will thrive
  • Manage department based on Just-In-Time and Lean methodologies to ensure no stockouts and timely delivery to customers
  • Actively drive a Continuous Improvement process to measure current performance, identify opportunities, develop plans and effect change to improve results
  • Monitor production versus forecast, reviewing material and labour variances and action to achieve budget and standards
  • Ensure production of quality product
  • Interacts daily with Winnipeg Management and staff. Interacts as required with Corporate Engineering personnel
  • Responsible for ensuring plant facilities and equipment receive required maintenance to limit break-down situations
  • Manage plant safety policies and procedures in accordance with legislative and company requirements

  

Basic Qualifications 

 

  • A minimum of 5 years previous experience in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment, within manufacturing a definite asses

 

  • Sound knowledge of general and manufacturing management procedures and computer systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven managerial, coaching, human relations, analytical and communications skills.  A “team player” is a must
  • Equivalency of Community College Diploma/University Degree with courses in manufacturing and production
