Description:
Staffmax is currently hiring an Accountant or Bookkeeper to join our client’s team in Toronto (Scarborough). This is a full-time, work at the office position with benefits.

Location: Scarborough, ON
Term: Fulltime and Permanent
Salary- $68,000 during the 3-month probationary period. After successful completion of the probation period the salary goes up to $72,500 per year

Specific Responsibilities
• Daily posting of entries into the accounting system.
• Prepare weekly payroll.
• Prepare month-end and quarter-end financial statements by the 15th day of the following month.
• Prepare year-end closing process including preparing accrual journal entries and GL account reconciliations.
• Have full cycle accounting experience including AP, AR, Bank/Credit Card/Prepaids.
• Prepare and file all CRA returns such as HST, payroll taxes, EHT, corporate taxes.
• Call clients on a weekly basis to collect overdue receivables.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• A minimum of bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• An accounting designation would be an asset but not mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a full-cycle Accountant or Bookkeeper.
• Solid understanding of accounting standards (ASPE / IFRS).
• Experience working in the construction, landscaping or other project-based industries.
• Experience in all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, month-end and year-end
close and preparation of all financial statements.
• Strong knowledge of the Sage50 or Simply accounting software.
• Proficient with Excel, Office.
