Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/ Administrator to join our client's team. As a Bookkeeper/ Administrator, you will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including processing full payroll (not immediately 35 staff), assisting with financial reporting, maintaining accounts payable and receivable, and updating financial statements.

  • Location: St. James near Polo Park
  • Salary: Up to $32 hour depending on experience
  • Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30 pm - Flexible schedule less hours are okay/ flexible weekly schedule for the right person.
  • Health and dental: split costs
  • Vacation: 2 weeks year one and 3 weeks after year two
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Controller:
  • Calculate fixed assets and depreciation accordingly
  • Support the preparation of accruals for monthly financial reporting.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports as requested.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Review payroll records, expenses, and other assigned items.
  • Maintain and update payroll profiles for employee changes, new hires, and terminations.
  • Coordinate full-cycle payroll processing efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain employee files.
  • Assist in the accurate and timely remittance of taxes such as GST, PST, and payroll remittances.
  • Assist in processing monthly income statements, balance sheets, and other financial statements in compliance with legal, financial, and accounting guidelines.
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations, track discrepancies, and make necessary corrections.
  • Update accounts payable and receivable, and issue invoices.
  • Process financial entries to ensure proper and timely recording of all business transactions.
  • Perform variance analysis on GL accounts, identify trends, and investigate as necessary.
  • Prepare T5018 forms annually
  • Knowledge of Sage 50 is essential.
  • General email box maintenance
  • Sort and distribute mail both incoming and outgoing
  • Answer and take messages on main line
  • General administrative support
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in SAGE 50 is a must.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
