Staffmax Staffing and Recruiting is currently assisting our client with the hiring of a French bilingual Human Resource Generalist.

  • $75-85,000

  • Option to work from home after training 1 day a week dependant

Payroll, Compensation & Benefits:

• Provides payroll specific support to employees (with a focus on Eastern Canada locations)

• Works collaboratively with the Head of HR – Canada on compensation analysis for workforce transitions; presents recommendations for new hires, promotions, transfers

• Works with the Head of HR – Canada in constructing business cases when submitting special cases for salary increases, bonuses, etc. as applicable

• Administers Canada Life benefits

• Coordinates disability management process

• Ensures taxable benefits and third party remittances are processed appropriately;

• Processes full cycle, bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees keeping in mind provincial legislations (AB, BC, ON, QC) including, but not limited, to new hires, terminations, commissions, adjustments and off-cycle payrolls;

• Liaises with payroll provider (ADP)

• Manages benefits process from selection to enrollment or updates and assists employees throughout the year with benefits administration, including disability management;

• Prepares Records of Employment

• Administers the RRSP Group Benefits plan (Investor’s Group)

• Interacts with Benefit Providers (Canada Life)

• Reconciles statutory remittances to Government agencies, income tax forms and remittances as required;

• Manages and tracks all third party processes and remittances including, but not limited to, Provincial Extended Health (where applicable) and WCB accounts and payments; and

• Manages terminations and payments to ensure no final payments are overlooked;

Recruitment:

• Works with Head of HR – Canada to define role requirements

• Conducts full recruiting process through applicant tracking system and fill vacant positions

• Supports new hire process including the preparation, distribution and processing of Offer Letters

• Collecting paperwork and reviewing invoices for approval

• Supports onboarding of new employees

Employee HR Support:

• Manages conflict situations, working closely with managers to ensure employee relations issues are handled professionally and timely, minimizing business risks;

• Communicates proactively of HR topics to improve the employer-employee relationship;

• Addresses employees complaints and conducts investigations as needed;

• Provides advice, council, support and coaches managers and employees as required;

• Coaches managers and employees on performance management, including company performance reviews and Individual Development Plans (IDPs);

• Supports and prepares Performance Improvement Plan (PIPs), applying progressive discipline principles as appropriate;

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Post-secondary school education in Human Resources Management or Business Administration

• Working towards the CHRL designation, an asset

• 3 – 5 years of experience in a progressive Human Resources role

• 1 - 2 years experience processing payroll (ADP system preferred) or similar;

• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office

• Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and French
