Job Title: Broker Billing Specialist (Hybrid)


Pay Rate: $17.68/hr including vacation pay
Contract Length: 6 months with chance of extension 

Location: Hybrid (2x/week in-office or 15 hours/week in-office, remainder work from home)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (Shifts: 7:00AM - 3:30PM, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, 9:00AM - 5:30PM, or 10:00AM - 6:30PM)
Training: 5 days of in-office training, followed by a mix of in-office and remote training sessions.


Job Summary: The Broker Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient billing for clients within a high-volume call center environment. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to analyze billing issues while providing exceptional customer service. The Specialist will manage billing inquiries, resolve payment discrepancies, and contribute to the overall success of the team by maintaining high service standards and supporting other team members.

This position operates in a hybrid work model, with a mix of in-office and remote work, and will require the candidate to be flexible with shift schedules.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Billing Management: Process and manage broker billing inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of payment issues.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and effective customer service, answering billing inquiries, handling disputes, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Call Center Support: Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, providing accurate billing information and addressing client concerns in a professional manner.
  • Billing System Use: Utilize computerized billing systems to retrieve, update, and manage client billing data.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal teams, including sales and operations, to resolve complex billing issues.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify billing problems and escalate as needed, ensuring solutions are implemented efficiently.
  • Data Analysis: Review and analyze billing and payment data to identify trends or errors, providing insights for process improvement.
  • Shift Flexibility: Work in various shifts within the provided time frame, adjusting schedules as needed based on operational requirements.
  • Training: Participate in required training sessions, which will begin in-office before transitioning to a hybrid work model.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in a call center environment, ideally with exposure to billing, insurance, or financial services.
    • Experience with handling high call volumes in a customer service or billing role.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
    • Experience with computerized billing systems and telephony systems (Genesys preferred).
    • Adept at handling billing inquiries and analyzing complex payment information.
  • Communication Skills:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
    • Ability to communicate complex billing information clearly to clients.
  • Language Skills:

    • Bilingual in French (verbal and written) is an asset.
  • Additional Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in billing or financial matters.
    • Ability to remain calm and composed when handling difficult or challenging conversations.
  • Internet and Equipment Requirements:

    • Must have reliable internet at home (recommended minimum: 20 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload).
    • Wired internet connection preferred for optimal performance.
    • Equipment (Monitors, Laptop, Cables, Keyboard, Headsets, Mouse) will be provided.

Working Conditions:

  • Work Model: Hybrid – 2 days per week in-office or 15 hours of in-office work per week.
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; required to work various shifts (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, or 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM).
  • Training: Initial in-office training for approximately 5 days, followed by a mix of in-office and remote learning.
  • Remote Work Requirements: Must have a dedicated and quiet workspace at home to perform job duties effectively.
