Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 (based on experience)

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Building Operator with an ABSA Class 5 Power Engineering certification to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, inspection, and maintenance of building systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. This position offers a balance of technical building system work and general repair/maintenance duties.
- This building hosts 70 units with another 84 being built in walking proximity – a non-profit community of working families and individuals
- New position, new building!
- Liaise with the Property Management Company and tenants
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing
- Perform minor plumbing repairs, including fixing faucets, leaks, and clogged fixtures or drains.
HVAC
- Operate and maintain building systems, including closed-loop systems, humidifiers, hot water boilers, RO systems, and water softeners.
- Maintain comfort ventilation standards and adjust set points.
Electrical
- Complete small electrical tasks such as changing light bulbs, batteries, and switches, and performing minor repairs.
General Maintenance
- Carry out routine handyman tasks such as painting, minor carpentry, flooring repairs, re-lamping, filter changes, and drain clearing.
- Ensure all building equipment is in good working order and certifications are current.
- Conduct inspections to confirm scheduled and periodic maintenance is completed to standard.
Qualifications
- ABSA Class 5 Power Engineering certification (required).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Ability to obtain a clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
- Experience with automated building systems (electrical, fire alarm, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, etc.).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair skills.
- Knowledge of Federal and Alberta Building Codes.
- Self-motivated, independent worker with strong problem-solving ability.
- Achievement-oriented and resourceful with a focus on service excellence.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to support effective teamwork and customer relations.
