Staffmax is hiring cashiers and sales associates for our client's Winnipeg location.
Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Cashier / Sales Associate is responsible for delivering exceptional front-line customer service at store locations. This role involves handling sales transactions, managing inventory, offering product information, and maintaining a secure and organized environment to ensure an outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement
- Greet and acknowledge customers in a welcoming manner.
- Proactively approach customers, adhering to predefined criteria, to provide attentive and positive assistance.
- Inform customers about ongoing merchandising events, promotions, and product samplings using both verbal communication and available written materials.
- Offer product insights to aid customers in making informed selections, including coordinating inquiries for items at other stores and managing special orders.
- Actively promote various promotional programs and initiatives.
- Utilize Point-of-Sale and inventory management systems proficiently to conduct swift and accurate sales transactions, including returns and exchanges for customers, licensees, vendors, and marketing representatives.
- Process payments using methods such as debit cards, credit cards, gift cards, and cash.
- Ensure meticulous handling and processing of cash and credit/debit slips to maintain accuracy and security.
- Expertly package orders using appropriate resources for safe transportation.
- Provide assistance with carrying out purchases as needed, while ensuring that shopping carts remain within the store premises.
- Manage and facilitate refund procedures.
- Effectively address and resolve customer issues, escalating to the manager when necessary.
- Manage incoming calls according to established protocols.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee the receipt of merchandise and inter-store transfers, confirming the accuracy of invoices and credit invoices.
- Unload received pallets, relocating products to designated shelf locations or allocated warehouse spaces utilizing suitable equipment like pallet trucks, stock wheelers, and tables.
- Skillfully replenish shelves and displays, ensuring proper stock rotation, regular dusting, and optimal product condition.
- Identify and promptly remove damaged or unsellable items, promptly informing management and ensuring accurate accounting for missing products.
- Responsibly remove items flagged in relation to quality control advisories.
- Actively participate in regular inventory counts, adhering to established protocols.
- Follow documented policies and procedures for inventory handling, receiving, and management.
Security, Safety, and Social Responsibility:
- Monitor alerts and security bulletins related to potential shoplifting incidents.
- Employ effective floor surveillance techniques to deter and prevent shoplifting.
- Complete incident reports as required using designated safety management software.
Additional Duties:
- Ensure timely setup of proper signage and marketing materials.
- Align with and adhere to established policies, procedures, practices, and Corporate Responsibility commitments.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning tasks, maintaining a tidy sales floor area, organized cashier stations, orderly permit areas, and presentable product displays.
- Uphold cleanliness and sanitization standards in designated work areas.
- Prepare necessary deposits in accordance with established guidelines.
- Responsible for returning carts, baskets, tables, and equipment to their designated locations.
- Manage disposal of excess cardboard, boxes, and other waste materials.
- Assist in the training and guidance of new part-time or seasonal staff.
- Execute other relevant tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Primary Qualifications:
- Preferred completion of Grade 12 education.
- Candidates must pass a criminal record check
- Basic proficiency in cash handling, customer service practices, and computer skills.
- Fundamental mathematical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong aptitude for collaborative work within a team environment.
Secondary Qualifications:
- Preferably a minimum of six months of experience in a customer service-related industry.
- An asset: Certificate in Marketing, Sales, or Business Administration.
