Description:

Staffmax is looking for Compensation Specialists to fill various government contracts in Ottawa. The objective of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to accommodate future needs. WHERE: Ottawa, ON

WAGE: $40 - $50/hr (depending on level of experience)

MUST HAVE: Reliability Security Clearance (or be willing to get one)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a broad range of analytical, consultative, and administrative services relating to the compensation of various employee groups
  • Complete indepth analyses of the financial impact of current and proposed compensation programs to support/recommend program changes
  • Report compliance, inform collective bargaining, and support pay exception decisions
  • Complete compensation surveys (general and market specific) to ensure proper view and insight into market practices and trends
  • Perform salary reviews and trend analysis, utilizing appropriate market and Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) data to determine targeted compensation for various jobs and competitiveness of the organization's compensation practices
  • Develop recommendations based on survey results and other market indicators that are aligned with corporate strategy
  • Perform annual benchmarking and compression reviews to support compensation recommendations in the context of collective bargaining and adjustments for unrepresented groups
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners, business leaders, HR leaders and colleagues to provide integrated solutions to compensation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 year experience; 5+ years preferred
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Bilingual (English & French) preferred
  • Knowledge of the concepts and principles underlying position classification and compensation systems
  • Knowledge of theories and principles of internal and external market analysis
  • General knowledge of current and proposed legislation affecting pay and employment equity, knowledge of other pertinent labour laws
  • Experience completing market analysis
  • Compensation design experience
  • Experience with report writing

EDUCATION:

  • University degree, preferably in business administration, human resources, organizational management or a closely related field
  • Or a combination of education and experience
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is an asset

TO BE ASSESSED:

  • English Oral & Written skills
  • French Oral & Written skills
  • Knowledge of general compensation practices and procedures
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite such as: Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
