Position Summary
The Machinist is responsible for performing daily operations in the workshop, contributing to production activities, and carrying out machining tasks including setup, operation, and maintenance of machining equipment. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
Location: Bennett, Montréal, QC H1V 2T4
Contract Duration: 3–6 months
Pay Rate: $35–$40/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily machining operations in the workshop
- Set up, operate, and maintain machines (CNC and conventional)
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Use measuring tools to ensure precision and quality
- Perform basic maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, safety checks)
- Follow all health and safety procedures
- Contribute to production targets and deadlines
Work Environment
- Workshop-based role
- Exposure to metal dust, fumes, noise, vibration, and temperature changes
- Requires standing for long periods and handling materials up to 50 lbs
Requirements
Education & Experience
- DEP in machining, CNC operation, or industrial mechanics
- WHMIS certification
- Forklift certification (asset)
- 1–5 years of machinist experience
- Manufacturing experience preferred
Skills
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Experience with CNC and manual machines (lathe, milling, drill press)
- Strong attention to detail
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong focus on safety and quality
