Our client, an independent living retirement home in Winnipeg, is seeking a skilled Cook who takes pride in preparing and serving high-quality meals. In this role, you’ll support the Culinary Director in overseeing kitchen operations, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and ensuring strict adherence to food safety standards.

The ideal candidate has strong culinary skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen. You will ensure consistency in meal preparation, deliver excellent food presentation, and contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and cook meals following recipes and menu standards

  • Ensure plating and presentation meet quality expectations

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen

  • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies

  • Support and mentor kitchen staff as needed

  • Assist with catering and special events

  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace regulations

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years of cooking experience in professional kitchens

  • High school diploma or equivalent (culinary training is an asset)

  • Safe Food Handling Certificate

  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food prep techniques

  • Clear vulnerable sector criminal record check

  • First Aid/CPR certification is a plus

  • Strong multitasking, teamwork, and time-management skills

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure


Compensation: $19 -$21/hr (based on experience)
