What you will be doing
- You will serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams, providing legal direction across diverse projects and transactions
- Manage and review commercial and industrial leases, land acquisitions, property sales, and development contracts
- Design and implement compliance and risk mitigation strategies to support long-term business goals
- Provide support and guidance on corporate governance and financing matters
- Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of legal agreements and complex contracts
- Coordinate with banks and financial institutions to ensure seamless closing of real estate transactions
- Ensure all activities comply with applicable municipal, provincial, and federal regulations
- Maintain accurate corporate records, filings, and legal documentation
- Support workplace policies and employment law compliance, offering legal guidance where needed
- Act as lead counsel in litigation matters and contribute to effective case preparation and resolution
What we are looking for
- A Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor degree, LL.B, J.D., with active membership in good standing with the Law Society of Manitoba
- A minimum of three years of experience practicing commercial real estate law, ideally within a law firm or corporate legal department
- Demonstrated expertise in managing contracts, negotiating terms, and providing strategic legal advice
- Experience with real estate transactions, leasing, and property acquisitions
- Confident communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly and concisely
- A collaborative approach and strong problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced business environment
