Staffmax is hiring Data Operators in Toronto for Full Time Permanent position.
Data Operators are tasked with monitoring business-critical data processing, fixing emergency issues, and escalating technical problems to the appropriate team. This role will involve shift work to cover data processing that occurs 24/7/365. There is future scope to assist the development team in duties such as testing and programming tasks.
Location: Toronto, ON
Pay Rate- $34 - $40/hr.
Time- Monday - Friday & Alternate Weekend.
30 - 35 Hours/ Week - On Site - Permanent
Responsibilities
- Monitoring the health of servers to ensure they are functioning before, during and after processing times
- Monitoring the logs and other notifications (SMS, email, etc) produced by data processing code to ensure that the data is being handled correctly
- Completing “start of day” and “end of day” checks on all data feeds
- Liaising with subject matter experts to confirm the data is correct and the desired outcome has been achieved by data processing code
- Post-processing analysis of data processing to confirm that we have high quality data that can be successfully delivered and consumed by the analytics team
- Reporting issues to the appropriate technical teams and working with them to enhance data processing systems
- Assisting the development and data teams as needed in testing and developing software
- Assisting other support teams as needed
Required Skills and Experience
- Ability to troubleshoot basic computer issues relating to network connectivity, hanging processes and high disk/memory usage.
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to clearly communicate with vendors and internal staff
- Excellent organisation skills
- Ability to solve difficult problems in a timely manner, escalating issues to the next support tier when necessary
- Ability to work in a team
Nice to have
- Ability to understand, write and execute SQL statements
- Knowledge of code management techniques using Git and/or Mercurial
- Exposure to the Atlassian suite (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence)
- Ability to debug, write and test code written in VB/C# .NET, PowerShell and VB Script
- Ability to debug, write and test code written in Python
- Exposure to building web interfaces using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Exposure the software development lifecycle and testing principles.
