THE ROLE

The Deployment and Support Specialist is an IT professional responsible for deploying and supporting mission critical technologies in Police, Fire and EMS environments. The successful candidate for this position enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment and interacting with clients.  We are seeking a self-starter, who is continually considering ways to improve their own efficiency and the team’s productivity.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade and configure the company's suite of applications on various customer, cloud and in-house Linux based servers

  • Deploy database changes to client sites

  • Plan and coordinate data migration between systems

  • Configure and maintain tools for generation, deployment and monitoring of product builds

  • Improve performance and reliability of product builds and deployment strategies

  • Communicate with customer IT staff for deployment related questions

  • Troubleshoot, Document and Resolve issues as required

  • Work effectively on several concurrent client and/or internal projects

  • Provide off-hours on-call support on a rotation basis

  • Maintain awareness of trends in technology and operational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in computer science or related field

  • Previous experience is of value however recent graduates are also welcome to apply

Desired Skills

  • Background with Linux operating system and command line tools

  • Experience with virtualization tools (VMware) and cloud computing (AWS)

  • Understanding of scalable, distributed, always-on systems

  • Experience in creating scripts (e.g. Linux shell scripting, Perl, Python, etc.)

  • Experience with configuration management software such as GIT

  • Understanding of database technologies and concepts

  • Experience with Active Directory or LDAP environments

  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Good time management and organization skills

  • Team player willing to share knowledge and learn from others

  • Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Reliability security clearance
