Pay Rate: $23.55–$43.17 per hour, depending on experience, training, and certifications
Expected Hours: 40–50 hours per week

Job Summary

Staffmax is currently looking for a responsible, safety-conscious, and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our client’s team in Winnipeg, MB.

The successful candidate will perform maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a fleet of construction equipment, heavy-duty trucks, and trailers. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated mechanic who enjoys working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on construction equipment, heavy-duty trucks, and trailers.

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, suspension systems, brake systems, and air systems.

  • Follow established vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules and preventive maintenance plans.

  • Complete repairs and maintenance work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

  • Clean, lubricate, inspect, and service vehicles, equipment, attachments, and working tools.

  • Provide training, guidance, and hands-on support to apprentices performing maintenance and repair work.

  • Monitor and manage shop inventory to ensure required parts, supplies, and consumables are available.

  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source and order parts and materials.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.

  • Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe.

  • Follow all company policies, workplace safety procedures, and applicable regulations.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience repairing construction equipment, diesel trucks, and trailers.

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.

  • Red Seal Certification is preferred but not required.

  • Previous experience working with heavy-duty construction equipment is strongly preferred.

  • Welding experience is considered an asset but is not required.

  • Valid driver’s licence is required.

  • Must have a personal set of mechanic tools.

  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean work environment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage of $23.55–$43.17 per hour, based on experience, training, and certifications.
