Description:

Staffmax is looking for Editors / Writers to fill various government contracts in Ottawa. The objective of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to accommodate future needs. WHERE: Ottawa, ON

WAGE: $30 - $55/hr (depending on level of experience)

MUST HAVE: Reliability Security Clearance (or be willing to get one)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in editing, in both official languages, a wide range of documents intended for various clients of Corporate Communications to ensure linguistic integrity, clarity, accuracy, and consistency
  • Edit correspondence intended for high level executives
  • Translate various texts into French or English

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 year experience; 5+ years preferred
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be bilingual (English & French)
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely using a style that is aligned with the intended audience
  • Experience in translation
  • Experience conducting research to determine the correct spelling or meaning of various terminology
  • Experience using various Internet search engines
  • Knowledge of relevant online language tools (e.g. Termium, Le grand dictionnaire terminologique) and print resources (e.g. dictionaries, style guides)

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in translation or a related field (e.g., communications, linguistics)
