KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cut oversized metal using a cutting torch
- Agility to climb in and around all shapes and sizes of metal for torching safely
- Sorting, picking, and processing metal pieces
- Assist in the maintenance of the equipment used in the performance of the job
- Recognize operational problems and report them to the supervisor
- Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
- Assist in other yard work and warehouse duties as the need arises
- Maintain a clean work area and equipment
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 1 year torch cutting experience
- Working knowledge of oxy-propane torches; oxy-acetylene experience will be considered
- Working knowledge of safety standards
- Good oral English communication abilities
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Able to work professionally, respectfully with a positive attitude and a high level of personal integrity at all times in a fast-paced working environment
- Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Work Conditions & Additional Information:
- Working hours: Mon to Fri, 8:00am to 4:30pm
- Will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions at all times
- Exposure to heat and chemicals used in torches
- Wearing the proper PPE including Respiratory Protection and Welding Shield/Mask is mandatory
- Long hours of standing/sitting
- Own tools/equipment required: Steel-toed safety boots
