Flat-Deck Driver

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are hiring experienced Flat-Deck Drivers for ongoing, permanent positions. Drivers are responsible for completing a variety of freight pickups and deliveries across Canada, working closely with dispatch and customers to ensure freight is transported safely, securely, and on schedule.
Employment Type: Permanent (ongoing positions)
Compensation: $26.27/hour for on-duty, non-driving time, plus $0.59 per mile while driving
Estimated Annual Earnings: Approximately $90,000+ per year, depending on mileage and hours worked
Schedule: Drivers are typically out for 7–10 days at a time
Location / Routes: Routes vary; drivers operate throughout Canada
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide positive, friendly service to all customers
• Perform efficient freight pickups and deliveries
• Safely operate truck and trailer to ensure freight, the public, and yourself remain safe at all times
• Complete all necessary shipping documents to ensure proper freight handling
• Hook/unhook trailers, including cranking dollies
• Manage all deck supplies (tarps, chains, dunnage, etc.) with care for the next driver/trip
• Secure and/or tarp, strap, or chain freight according to standards
• Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including road load checks per company standards
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicle
• Maintain logs of working hours as required by federal regulations
• Wear PPE as required by customer and company standards
• Support all safety and health initiatives, following all safety policies and procedures, including incident reporting
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 1 year of flat-deck driving experience
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of this type of work
• Own and maintain your own late-model tractor that meets company requirements
• Valid Class 1/AZ Driver's Licence with air brake endorsement, in good standing
• Experience with all types of pickup and delivery activities
• Ability to work independently and with a minimum of supervision
• Commitment to performing all work safely and in compliance with all safe work policies, practices, and procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting up to 75 lbs. (freight handling, tarping); pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. of force. Cranking trailer dollies (requires approximately 50 lbs. of force). Long periods of sitting while driving; climbing into the truck cab or trailer several times per day; tarping, chaining, and strapping.
