About the Opportunity
Staffmax Staffing & Recruiting is hiring an experienced Driver Manager on behalf of our client in Winnipeg, MB.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced transportation professional to manage and support a team of professional drivers while ensuring efficient fleet operations, strong customer service, and high standards of safety and compliance.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing drivers in a fast-paced, high-volume transportation environment and a strong understanding of transportation operations across Canada and the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, support, and maintain accountability for a team of professional drivers.
- Communicate regularly with drivers regarding schedules, assignments, performance expectations, operational updates, and company policies.
- Monitor driver performance, attendance, productivity, utilization, safety, and compliance.
- Address driver concerns, performance issues, scheduling conflicts, and operational challenges.
- Build positive driver relationships to support engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Coordinate driver schedules and assignments across city, regional, and long-haul operations.
- Monitor active loads, driver schedules, ETAs, PTAs, pickups, and deliveries.
- Work closely with dispatch, operations, safety, maintenance, and customer service teams.
- Identify and resolve operational issues quickly to minimize delays and maintain service standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, safety requirements, and Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
- Monitor fleet and equipment utilization and support efficient transportation operations.
- Review operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide updates and present operational concerns or recommendations to management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in driver management, fleet operations, transportation dispatch, logistics, or a related role.
- Proven experience communicating with professional drivers and managing driver performance, accountability, and expectations.
- Strong understanding of the day-to-day demands of fleet and driver management.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven transportation environment.
- Knowledge of transportation operations in both Canada and the United States.
- Demonstrated ability to manage driver relationships, resolve operational issues, and maintain high service and safety standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective operational decisions.
- Experience with transportation management systems such as TruckMate, TMW, or Isaac is preferred.
- Knowledge of Hours of Service regulations, dispatch procedures, and fleet operations is an asset.
- Long-haul driving experience is considered a strong asset.
