Staffmax Staffing & Recruiting are hiring a Food Processing Plant Manager for our client based in Winnipeg.
Job opening is based on current employee moving into another role to pursue career goals

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and schedules daily work assignments and work shifts.
  • Ensures production schedules are met
  • Monitors and guarantees that products are being manufactured in conformance with manufacturing practices and food safety practices.
  • Provides training and support; as well as enforcement to the Food Safety program.
  • Ensures employees are HACCP trained and that all food safety rules and regulations are always followed
  • Reviews and updates work aids (instructions, charts, manuals, bulletins, code date calendars, etc.) essential for verification of product quality.
  • Supervises the daily activities of the technicians and assures proper training in Safety, Food Safety and Quality systems.
  • Health and Safety of employees. Ensures work environment is safe and that employees work safely and follow established safety practices
  • Reports deficiencies within the department
  • Ensures employees are trained to perform work assigned to them.
  • Ensures equipment operates properly and receives required maintenance
  • Monitors punctuality, attendance and safety records.
  • Manages department overtime.
  • Communicates and shares information with employees.
  • Listens to employee concerns and shares them with the Manager.
  • Report any problems with the Food Safety Management System.

  • 30-35 employees
  • Reporting to Senior Plant Manager

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent required; post-secondary education strongly preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in a manufacturing environment.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated, cold climate (10°C working climate, 4°C for walk in refrigerator and -18°C for walk in freezer).
  • Quality systems experience and knowledge of statistics preferred. 
  • Must be reliable, responsible with initiative to take the next level. 
  • Knowledge in HACCP and Food Safety Programs, Six Sigma. 
  • Computer literacy, Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Pay Rate:

  • $52,000 - $55,000 per year
Benefits:
  • Extended Group Health Care
  • Retirement Plan 3% and 5% after 5 years

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 7AM - 3:30PM
