We are looking for an experienced Grill Cook for a fine-dining establishment in downtown Toronto. You would be responsible for supporting the Executive and Sous Chefs in our busy kitchen, delivering consistently high-quality food. If you are passionate about ensuring that highest standards and consistent quality are met in the daily preparation, then this might be the job for you!

Where: Toronto, ON

Wage: $25/hr, depending on experience

Shifts: 4x 10 hour shifts per week, with 3 days off

Type: Full-Time, Permanent with potential overtime

Responsibilities:

Grill Cook:

  • Slicing, cutting, shredding, tenderizing, and skewering meat and vegetables.
  • Braising and grilling meat and vegetables.
  • Checking that ingredients remain fresh and safe for consumption.
  • Preventing cross-contamination.
  • Preparing meals in accordance with customers' preferences, if applicable.
  • Tracking the components of each meal to ensure that the final dish is completed in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with waitstaff once orders are finalized.
  • Ensuring that your workstation remains clean and orderly at all times.
  • Informing the Manager when equipment is due for maintenance, repair, or replacement.
  • Tracking inventory to ensure that you always have adequate supplies.

Grill Cook Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a cook, preferably with a focus on grilling.
  • Desire for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Capacity to stand for long hours.
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety guidelines.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Level-headed with outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the production of high-quality outputs and excellent customer service.

Prerequisites:

  • A high standard of spoken and written English.
  • Able to work flexible hours, subject to the demands of the business.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent culinary catering talent.

Experience:

At least 4 years of experience cooking in a well-established restaurant or full-service hotel.

Physical & Working Conditions:

This position requires the employee to stand on their feet for most of the day. The employee must be able to deal with high levels of stress, pressure deadlines and maintain composure. Occasional lifting is required to a maximum of 40 pounds. Kitchen exposure includes mechanical equipment, sharp objects (knives), high heat, smoke, noise and chemical solvents.
