About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced HR Generalist & Payroll Administrator to join their team in Winnipeg. This is a hands-on role responsible for managing all aspects of Human Resources while processing Canadian and U.S. payroll for approximately 200 employees using Dayforce.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where they can contribute across multiple HR functions.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process bi-weekly Canadian and U.S. payroll for approximately 150 employees using Dayforce.
- Ensure accurate payroll processing, including regular wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, and deductions.
- Maintain payroll records, employee earnings, benefits, tax withholdings, and garnishments.
- Process new hires, terminations, salary changes, promotions, and payroll adjustments.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports while ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, state, and company regulations.
- Process Records of Employment (ROEs), year-end payroll activities, T4s, W-2 support, and payroll reconciliations.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation.
Human Resources
- Administer the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, orientation, transfers, promotions, and offboarding.
- Maintain employee files and HRIS records within Dayforce.
- Administer employee benefits, group insurance, pension, and leave programs.
- Assist with recruitment activities, including posting jobs, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, and onboarding documentation.
- Support employee relations by responding to HR-related questions and providing guidance on company policies.
- Track attendance, vacation, leaves of absence, and employee records.
- Coordinate performance reviews, employee training, and HR initiatives.
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation for management.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, workplace policies, and health & safety regulations.
HRIS & Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee data within Dayforce.
- Generate payroll, HR, headcount, and workforce reports.
- Support payroll and HR audits.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll and HR processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- 3–5+ years of combined HR Generalist and Payroll experience.
- Mandatory experience processing Canadian and U.S. payroll using Dayforce (Ceridian Dayforce).
- Experience processing payroll for approximately 150 employees.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and basic understanding of U.S. payroll requirements.
- Experience administering employee benefits and HR programs.
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation is considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
