About the Opportunity
Staffmax is currently hiring on behalf of one of its clients in Winnipeg for an experienced HVAC Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established commercial and industrial mechanical services environment specializing in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, and plumbing services.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with solid technical HVAC/mechanical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while supporting field technicians in a fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
The HVAC Supervisor will work closely with management, field technicians, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This role requires strong leadership, organizational ability, and a customer-focused mindset.
You will be responsible for supervising field teams, coordinating projects, ensuring safety and compliance, and maintaining high standards of workmanship and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and support HVAC technicians and apprentices
- Schedule and coordinate daily commercial and industrial mechanical work
- Monitor productivity, workmanship quality, and performance standards
- Provide technical guidance and on-site troubleshooting support
- Assist with hiring, training, and performance evaluations
Project & Operational Oversight
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems
- Review project specifications, drawings, and work orders
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with mechanical codes, regulations, and company standards
- Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures
- Conduct safety meetings and site hazard assessments
- Maintain documentation, permits, and inspection records
Customer & Administrative Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients regarding project updates and technical matters
- Assist with estimating, material take-offs, and project planning
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and subcontractor schedules
- Complete reports, timesheets, and project documentation
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid HVAC/Refrigeration or Mechanical Journeyperson certification (or equivalent)
- 5+ years of experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC/mechanical systems
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes, and safety regulations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools is an asset
Education & Certifications
- Licensed Journeyperson HVAC Technician or equivalent mechanical certification
- WHMIS and relevant safety certifications
- Valid driver’s license
