Staffmax is hiring a Head Chef in Brentwood! Join our client as a Head Chef and play a key role in crafting exceptional dining experiences for our guests. As a Head Chef, you will lead all culinary operations, ensuring that our menu offerings are of the highest quality and our service levels remain top-notch. You will be in charge of recruiting, developing, and scheduling our culinary team, managing inventory and supplies, and overseeing efficient preparation of menu items. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee culinary operations, ensuring all checklists and line checks are completed, stations are well-stocked, and any necessary repairs or maintenance for kitchen equipment are promptly addressed and documented.
- Manage inventory processes, communicating any pricing or product availability issues to the management team, and maintaining inventory controls including proper levels, rotation, requisitions, and dating.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with external contractors for facility repairs and maintenance.
- Lead talent management efforts for the culinary team, including recruitment, training, coaching, succession planning, and improving employee engagement by recognizing achievements, resolving concerns, and fairly managing performance and scheduling.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all health and safety regulations affecting the restaurant, ensuring any safety hazards are promptly identified and corrected.
Qualifications:
- Secondary School Diploma or GED required.
- A Post-Secondary diploma in Business Management, Culinary Arts, or Hospitality is an asset.
- Experience managing a large culinary team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques.
- Valid Food Handler’s certificate.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Red Seal inter-provincial culinary certification and Smart Serve certification are assets.
