Our client is actively seeking a HR Director, Manager or someone ready to take on this next step. 

4 month contract potential of staying on in a different role or project coordinator in HR department

The Director of Human Resources will play a lead role in the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of Human Resources policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Senior Management Team
and the Committee on Personnel and Finance. The Director of Human Resources will work together with the Executive Director to address all human resource issues of the organization.

  • $130-150k/yr 
  • Contract for 4 months
  • In-office Monday through Friday
  • Strong potential to be kept on in another role or capacity

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all Human Resources Office staff, operations, and processes;
  • Current HR team consists of HR Assistant; HR Coordinator; HR Generalist; Recruitment Coordinator.
  • Draft and/or revise and implement Human Resource policies, procedures, and memorandums;
  • Respond to internal and external Human Resources related inquiries from staff, department managers, and other parties;
  • Provide advice and guidance to Senior Management and Supervisors regarding disciplinary action;
  • Conduct investigations into any staff complaints regarding harassment or other contraventions of the personnel policy;
  • There are currently two investigations that need to be followed up on and require immediate attention.
  • Ensure processes are in place for accurate and comprehensive personnel records;
  • Manage formal communications to employees for management review;
  • Ensure accurate and complete records and forms of filed items;
  • Ensure occupational health and safety training to new hires;
  • Compile statistical reports and metrics concerning personnel-related data such as turnover, cost of vacancy, grievance resolution and absenteeism rates;
  • Analyze statistical reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement;
  • Performs special duties and projects related to department as required.
  • Salary Scale project is outstanding with the contractor, HR Director to follow up and get it moving along.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Human Resources Management;
  • CPHR Designation is an asset;
  • Experience in a Senior Human Resources role;
  • In-depth knowledge of employment standards and legislation, policies, and procedures related to human resources management;
  • Strong organizational ability including planning, delegating, and task facilitation;
  • Ability to handle conflict, and demonstrate sound judgement;
  • Excellent negotiation skills, supervising, operational, and strategic management planning;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with the ability to achieve results through a consultative approach to decision making;
  • Experience working in Human Resources with First Nations or First Nations organization in Manitoba or other regions;
  • Must be proficient in computer software 
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when needed;
  • Adhere to policies, and procedures with specific attention to attendance, and professional ethics; and
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, possess a valid Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.
