Pay and Benefits:

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the HR team, ensuring effective delivery of HR services and providing guidance as required.
- Coach and advise directors, managers, and program leads on HR policies, best practices, and employment standards to support informed decision-making.
- Develop and execute corporate HR plans in key areas, including:
- Compensation and benefits
- Health and safety
- Employee well-being
- Review, enhance, and ensure consistent application of HR policies, processes, and performance management systems.
- Foster and maintain strategic relationships across the organization to promote collaboration and alignment.
- Oversee compliance with employment laws and regulations, mitigating risks and ensuring organizational adherence.
- Monitor key HR metrics by preparing and presenting monthly and annual reports to support strategic decision-making.

- Requires frequent judgment and decision-making on various issues, programs, and services.
- Involves weighing operational goals, best practices, employment law, and policies to make well-informed decisions, often under tight deadlines.

- Works closely with executive management to align HR initiatives with organizational goals.
Impact of Results
- Responsible for decisions that influence HR policies, procedures, and overall department functions.
- Provides detailed analysis and recommendations to senior management to seize opportunities and minimize risks.
- Assesses current policies and procedures for effectiveness and makes actionable recommendations.

Internal Contacts:
- Employees across various departments Support daily tasks and operations.
- Senior management Share updates and seek direction.
- Working collaboratively with all levels of management including senior managers.
External Contacts:
- Benefit providers and legal representatives (weekly/as needed) – Confirm services and seek legal advice.
- Training providers (as needed) – Coordinate employee training to align with organizational goals.
- Recruitment agencies (as needed) – Assist with high-level or hard-to-fill roles.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Manage HR department functions, including supervising direct reports. Team of 4 HR colleagues
- Provide expertise and strategic guidance to leadership on HR decisions, such as program structure and succession planning.
Education & Experience
Education:
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or related experience and post secondary.
Experience:
- 8–10 years of HR leadership experience, including developing HR functions and managing teams.
- Proven expertise in:
- Employment standards, workplace safety, and human rights legislation.
- Talent strategy: recruitment, retention, training, and performance management.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience working working with or for First Nation organizations;
- Fluency in Anishinaabe or Dakota is an asset.
Other Requirements
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s License and access to a vehicle (travel may be required).
- Good standing with CPHR designation and/or regularity body (proof maybe required)
