Journeyman Plumber – Gas Fitter Class A License

Pay- $45.00 - $55.00/hr
Staffmax is currently hiring for one of our clients in Winnipeg that specializes in commercial, industrial, and residential plumbing, heating, gas fitting, and HVAC services. Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Plumber with a valid Gas Fitter Class A License to join their growing team.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional with strong mechanical aptitude who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. This role involves performing installation, maintenance, and service work on plumbing and gas systems in commercial, industrial, and residential environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layouts for plumbing systems, water supply networks, and drainage systems
• Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
• Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate piping and fittings
• Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
• Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions
• Install, service, and repair natural gas and propane piping systems in accordance with Manitoba gas codes
• Connect, commission, and service gas-fired appliances and equipment, including commercial and industrial systems
• Ensure compliance with all applicable gas regulations and safety standards
• Perform preventative maintenance and service work as required
• Prepare cost estimates when needed
• Complete service documentation and communicate findings professionally with customers
• Support 24-hour emergency service on a rotating on-call schedule
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition
• Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience working in commercial, industrial, and/or residential plumbing environments preferred
• Experience with large-capacity gas systems and commercial boiler applications is considered an asset
• Backflow certification is considered an asset
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, on ladders, and aerial platforms
• Ability to perform physically demanding work including standing, bending, lifting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract
Education & Certifications:
• Completion of secondary school required
• Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber Certification required
• Valid Gas Fitter Class A License required
• WHMIS and applicable safety certifications required
