Journeyman Plumber – Gas Fitter Class A License

Pay: $45–$55/hr
Staffmax is currently hiring for one of its clients in Winnipeg that specializes in commercial and industrial heating, air conditioning, boiler, refrigeration, and plumbing services. With decades of industry experience, our client provides installation, service, repair, and preventative maintenance solutions and operates with 24/7 emergency response capability.
They are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Plumber to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional with strong mechanical aptitude who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship across commercial and residential environments.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to providing excellent customer service while maintaining strong, long-term client relationships. This role plays a key part in supporting the company’s reputation for quality, reliability, and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing system layouts, water supply networks, and drainage systems
• Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems and fixtures
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
• Cut and prepare openings in walls and floors for piping installations
• Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
• Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions
• Perform preventative maintenance and service work as required
• Prepare cost estimates when required
• Complete service documentation and communicate findings and recommendations professionally to customers
• Support 24-hour emergency service on a rotating on-call schedule
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience in commercial and/or residential plumbing environments is an asset
• Backflow certification is considered an asset
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, and aerial platforms
• Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting, bending, crawling, climbing, and reaching
• Must be comfortable working at heights
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract
Education & Certifications:
• Completion of secondary school required
• Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber Certification required
• Gas Fitter Class B License preferred (willingness to obtain is an asset)
• WHMIS and other applicable safety certifications required
