Staffmax is partnering with a client in Winnipeg, MB to fill the position of Junior Invoicing and Back up Payroll Accountant. Our client offers a positive work environment and ample opportunities for professional growth.

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our client's finance team. As a Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including backup payroll, assisting with financial reporting, maintaining accounts payable and receivable, and updating financial statements. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to a dynamic organization and develop their accounting career.

Location: Off Farmer Rd and Kilmpke Rd
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5 pm 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the VP and Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Support the preparation of accruals for monthly financial reporting.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports as requested.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Review payroll records, expenses, and other assigned items.
  • Maintain and update payroll profiles for employee changes, new hires, and terminations.
  • Back up for Payroll department for full-cycle payroll processing 
  • Maintain employee files.
  • Assist in the accurate and timely remittance of taxes such as GST, PST, and payroll remittances.
  • Assist in processing monthly income statements, balance sheets, and other financial statements in compliance with legal, financial, and accounting guidelines.
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations, track discrepancies, and make necessary corrections.
  • Update accounts payable and receivable, and issue invoices.
  • Process financial entries to ensure proper and timely recording of all business transactions.
  • Perform variance analysis on GL accounts, identify trends, and investigate as necessary.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned, including credit card balance and financial reconciliation of accounts.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is a must.
  • Car ownership is required.
  • Educated or experienced in Accounting a must
