Human Resource Labour Relations Specialist needed for medical leave coverage 3-6 month term

· $40.38 hour ($73k yr.) up to $53.56 hour ($97k yr.)

· Additional costs including parking, mileage etc. will be covered.

· Possibility of flex hours if needed

On-site role

Duties include performance management, employee relations, HR records management and reporting, workforce planning, HR compliance and risk management, organizational design, and union negotiations

Reviewing and resolving complex and sensitive labour and employment issues. The Labour Relations Specialist provides consistent and timely advice, counsel, and guidance to all levels of management regarding the interpretation of the Collective Agreement, consulting supervisors and Directors and coaching staff on how to address issues with each other.

Share information to increase capabilities and build knowledge of the employee and labour relations process. Recognizing teachable moments and engaging team members to provide them with the opportunity to learn from the experience.

Strong working knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Code, Workers Compensation Act, Labour Relations Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act, and other related labour and human resource legislation.

Must Haves:

· Excellent judgement and decision-making skills, dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

· Demonstrated ability to professionally handle extremely stressful and complex sensitive situations.

· Excellent written and oral communications skills.

· Human Resource educated

· Prior experience in Labour Relations

· Possesses a valid class 5 driver’s license

· Access to a personal vehicle an asset;

· Ability to travel to within First Nations communities

· Must provide clear criminal record check, prior contact check, adult abuse and child abuse checks and a clear driver’s abstract.

· Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) sector and legislation would be an asset;

· Experience in working with indigenous communities and fluency in the Ojibwe language would be considered assets.

· Possesses a strong knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and issues affecting our children, families and communities.
