Pay: $41.00 – $45.50/hour
Shift: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Shift Premiums: $3 (2nd shift), $5 (3rd shift), $3 (weekends)

About the Opportunity:
Staffmax is hiring on behalf of one of its clients in Surrey (Port Kells) for a Licensed Diesel Truck Technician / Mechanic I (Tech 1). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, licensed technician looking to work in a modern, well-equipped shop with strong growth potential and industry-leading tools and training.

Position Overview:
As a Technician I, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of truck and trailer equipment. This role requires a highly skilled professional who can work independently and efficiently while ensuring high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance services on trucks and trailers
  • Diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair mechanical and electrical systems
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other key components
  • Troubleshoot and repair major components including engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Conduct road tests to diagnose issues and verify repairs
  • Complete repair orders and document warrantable repairs
  • Use hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision instruments
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with tractor-trailer maintenance
  • Valid Red Seal or 310T (or equivalent provincial license) required
  • Valid driver’s license (Class 3/D with air brakes preferred or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on major components
  • Experience with diagnostic tools, welding equipment, and shop tools
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 45 kg occasionally
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of hands/tools
  • Good vision and focus for detailed mechanical work
