Pay: $25.00–$35.00/hour + Night Shift Premium, based on experience
Position Overview
Staffmax is hiring a Licensed Trailer Technician – Red Seal/Journeyman Certified for a full-time position in Winnipeg.
The successful candidate will perform comprehensive trailer maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs in a professional shop environment. This position is ideal for an experienced technician with strong knowledge of trailer systems who takes pride in quality workmanship, accurate diagnostics, and safe repair practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailer systems and components.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, brake, suspension, landing gear, frame, air/hydraulic, and refrigeration (reefer) systems.
- Use advanced diagnostic equipment and hand tools to accurately identify and resolve faults.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections.
- Test and validate completed repairs to ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Complete accurate repair documentation and work orders.
- Record repair details and track parts using maintenance tablets.
- Review technical manuals and service information when required.
- Stay current with new and emerging transportation and fleet technologies.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Support apprentices and other technicians when required.
Qualifications
Certification – Required
- Red Seal endorsement as a Licensed Trailer Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, or Truck and Transport Technician.
- Journeyman certification in a related trade will be considered.
Experience & Skills
- Proven hands-on experience with trailer service, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs.
- Strong knowledge of trailer structural, electrical, suspension, and braking systems.
- Experience troubleshooting air and hydraulic systems.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, service manuals, and hand/power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Ability to safely lift up to 85 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits
- $25.00–$35.00/hour, based on experience.
