Job Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the company's supply chain operations. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this position is responsible for logistics and inventory management, requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Coordination
- Communicate with multiple carriers to obtain shipping quotes.
- Determine shipping methods and arrange shipments, including preparing necessary documentation (e.g., bills of lading, customs forms, and invoices).
- Collaborate with departments to provide updates on shipment tracking and delivery timelines.
- Monitor and track incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Resolve issues related to delays, damages, or invoice discrepancies with carriers.
- Perform other logistics-related tasks as assigned.
Inventory Management
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of goods from trucks and courier vans.
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and packing slips, noting shortages and rejecting damaged items.
- Unpack, label, and route goods to appropriate storage areas.
- Operate pallet jacks and weigh scales to handle and store goods.
- Conduct and report daily inventory cycle counts.
- Work with the Purchaser to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Complete other inventory-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: At least 1 year in logistics or inventory management.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems is an asset.
- Proficiency in operating equipment such as pallet jacks, wrappers, and weigh scales.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Effective time management and multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid forklift operating license is an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Physical Effort: Includes walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, squatting, and repetitive movements. Lifting and moving items weighing 10-50 lbs may be required.
- Work Setting: Indoor production and warehouse environment with concrete flooring, natural and artificial lighting, and high noise levels due to machinery.
- Safety: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in warehouse areas. Occasional work in outdoor storage containers may involve exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.
Performance Expectations
- Adhere to shipping deadlines as outlined in work orders.
- Conduct daily cycle counts and meet other project deadlines as assigned.
- Maintain flexibility to manage multiple tasks and priorities, often under tight deadlines.
