Staffmax Staffing & Recruiting has partnered with our clients, the leaders in the plastic recycling industry, to hire a Maintenance Manager for their Scarborough, Ontario area, Plant.

Reporting to the Plant Manager or General Manager, the Maintenance Manager would ensure that the day-today operations run smoothly and take actions that are in line with the strategic goals of the company as a whole. He/She will manage a team of several maintenance technicians focused on performing corrective, predictive and preventive maintenance procedures to material handling equipment, conveyor and control systems, and associated scanning equipment. He/She also needs to know how to measure his/her every action against the available budget and communicate his/her department needs with the upper management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing/Industrial maintenance experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing maintenance technicians
  • Understanding of mechanical power transmission and electrical power or machine controls, mechanical and electrical design, layout fabrication and repair practices as they apply to power transmission and conveyor belt applications.
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, welding and whole-facility maintenance.
  • Experience with plastic/recycling machines and equipment is required.
  • Forklift Factory repair certification would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of motors and motor control methods.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting techniques
  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling and overseeing all maintenance-related work by managing a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors
  • Ensuring that all maintenance operations are done in accordance with company policy and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) for its safety standards.
  • Ensuring the facility satisfies all industry regulations
  • Supervision of manual or clerical work involved in the control, and inventory, of tools and equipment in plant functioning, or the independent ordering and issuing of complex mechanical parts to equipment repair personnel in plant while upkeep of the Plant’s Maintenance Store room.
  • Managing budgets
  • Forecasting, ordering, and price negotiation for spare parts inventory
  • Establish, implement, train, and monitor maintenance guidelines for the maintenance teams, including safety on the job and preventive maintenance.
  • Hiring and disciplining of maintenance staff
  • Coordinating the completion of complex repairs
  • Hiring subcontractors for specialized maintenance work
  • Looking for new ways/tools/assets to improve productivity and cut costs
  • Preparation of maintenance reports
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday

Pay:

  • $80,000-$110,000/year (DOQ)
