Milk Receiving Technician / Milk Receiver
Position Overview
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Milk Receiving Technician to support our milk receiving operations for Winnipeg Location.
This position involves more than general labour work and requires someone who is comfortable working with food products, collecting and testing milk samples, operating testing equipment, and maintaining accurate receiving records.
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of GMP, food safety, and food security, along with the physical ability to work in a fast-paced food-processing environment.
Position Details
- Pay Rate: $21.00/hour
- Schedule: 6:45 AM – 6:45 PM
- Next Week Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Days Off: Wednesday and Thursday
- Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
- Location: Winnipeg
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and collect milk samples from incoming tanker trucks.
- Climb stairs multiple times throughout the shift to access tanker compartments and collect samples.
- Safely lean forward and reach into tanker openings when collecting samples.
- Handle milk samples, food products, and equipment in accordance with GMP and food safety procedures.
- Perform various tests on milk samples using designated testing machines and equipment.
- Accurately record and update milk receiving data, test results, and other information in company computer systems.
- Follow established food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow proper procedures for handling chemicals and cleaning/sanitation activities.
- Communicate any quality, safety, or receiving issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform other duties related to milk receiving and quality operations as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in milk receiving, food production, quality control, or a similar environment is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of GMP, food safety, and food security.
- Comfortable handling food products, samples, and production equipment.
- Physically capable of climbing stairs multiple times during a shift.
- Comfortable bending, reaching, and leaning forward to collect samples from tanker trucks.
- Comfortable using different testing machines and equipment to test milk samples.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to enter and update data accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- CIP and/or chemical handling experience is preferred.
- Good communication skills and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Physical Requirements
This is an active position that requires:
- Frequent stair climbing throughout the shift.
- Bending, reaching, and leaning forward while collecting samples from tankers.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Working 12-hour shifts in a food-processing environment.
- Following all required PPE and safety procedures.
