We're in search of a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in Winnipeg, MB. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling diverse responsibilities from payroll processing to benefits administration.

Start date: ASAP
Term: Permanent role
Salary: $60,000 - $67,000 annually
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm- Must be flexible working longer shifts (10-12 hours if needed) and weekend work could occur. 
Role: Remote but could work on-site
Location: Portage Avenue

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently process payroll using ADP or similar software, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Oversee onboarding and termination procedures, including timecard management and payroll audits.
  • Manage payroll for a current staff of 500 individuals, with plans to expand to 750 in the future.
  • Handle multiple payrolls, including two biweekly and two semi-monthly schedules.
  • Provide prompt and helpful responses to employee inquiries via email, delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Manage payroll for both Canadian and some US employees, with 99% focus on Canadian payroll.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Utilize Excel for data analysis, including pivot tables and report generation.
  • Verify benefits information and work with Canada Life to administer benefits packages.
  • Use Microsoft Word and Teams for communication and document preparation.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in payroll processing preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, with the ability to create pivot tables and reports.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Comfortable with both office-based and remote work arrangements.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and HRMIS system is an asset.

Additional Information:

  • This position involves processing payroll for 500 individuals, with plans to add another 250 staff in the future.
  • The successful candidate will handle four different payrolls, including two biweekly and two semi-monthly schedules.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong personality, able to adapt to last-minute requests and process changes with ease.
  • Very strong Excel and pivot table skills are required, along with strong data analysis skills and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication in English is essential, as a significant portion of our staff is non-native English speakers.
  • Autonomy in job execution is encouraged, provided tasks are completed accurately and on time.
