We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Clerk to join our client's team. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for approximately 200 non-unionized employees using Payworks. In addition to payroll, the position supports general HR administrative duties, new hire data entry, and monthly remittances. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll processes, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:

Process weekly payroll for approximately 200 non-unionized staff using Payworks

Ensure all hours worked are accurately recorded and approved before processing

Verify timesheets, investigate and resolve discrepancies

Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies

Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll-related issues
HR Administrative Support:

Enter and update employee information in the HR/payroll systems

Assist with onboarding of new hires, ensuring timely and accurate setup in the system

Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including filing, correspondence, and data management
Remittances and Reporting:

Prepare and submit monthly remittances including statutory deductions and benefits

Generate and distribute payroll and HR reports as needed

Support year-end payroll processes and reporting (e.g., T4s, ROEs)
Qualifications and Skills:

Must have hands-on experience with Payworks payroll software

Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, preferably in a high-volume environment

Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards

Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
