Staffmax is partnering with our client in Winnipeg, MB to find an experienced Payroll Clerk to join their dynamic team.

Position: Payroll Clerk
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Wage: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full Cycle Payroll: Demonstrate expertise in all aspects of payroll processing.
  • Temporary-to-Permanent Opportunity: Successful performance as a temp may lead to a permanent position.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, with a preference for 5 years.
  • Dayforce-Ceridian: Experience with Dayforce-Ceridian is considered an asset.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Data Management: Collect, analyze, audit, and validate payroll data for new hires, departures, and transfers.
  • Full Cycle Payroll: Process payroll functions on a semi-monthly and monthly basis, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Internal Controls: Ensure internal controls and audit trails are established for all payroll processes.
  • Equity Administration: Administer the employee stock option plan.
  • System Coordination: Coordinate with payroll/equity/HRIS systems and HR for accurate data management.
  • Year-End Requirements: Handle all year-end payroll obligations, including reconciliation of taxable benefits and preparation of various reports.
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly/quarterly salary and benefits reporting, including FTE reporting and Stats Canada/Service Canada reporting.
  • Employee Queries: Address employee queries regarding compensation and benefits, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Assist in ad-hoc projects, compliance requirements, audits, and grant reporting.
  • Office Management: Perform general office management tasks.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of full-cycle payroll and benefits administration.
  • HRIS Expertise: Experience with HRIS and payroll for more than 500 employees, ideally in a fast-paced industry.
  • Process-Oriented: Ability to understand and document processes and procedures.
  • Initiative: Comfortable working autonomously, taking ownership, and resolving issues.
  • Detail-Oriented: Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to handle confidential information.
