Staffmax is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Administrator to manage accurate, compliant, multi-provincial payroll for our national workforce. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys end-to-end ownership, complex payroll environments, and working closely with accounting and HR partners.

Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle, multi-provincial payroll for two branches (500 hourly and salaried)
- Review, validate, and code payroll submissions from branch locations
- Administer employee lifecycle transactions (hires, changes, terminations)
- Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger
- Support month-end and year-end payroll activities, including accruals and statutory reporting
- Maintain accurate, compliant payroll and employee records
- Respond to payroll, employment standards, and audit-related inquiries
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and claims
Professional Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience, both hourly and salaried,
- Experience processing payroll in multiple provinces
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and inter-provincial standards
- Experience with Payworks strongly preferred
- Solid accounting fundamentals
- High proficiency in Excel and payroll data management
- Benefits administration experience is considered an asset
- PCP or CPM designation (or in progress) is considered an asset
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
