Description:
Staffmax Staffing and Recruiting is seeking a Power Engineer 4th class for casual work with our client in the Winnipeg St James area. Car a must!

They have one Engineer on medical leave and one on extended holiday. They need some help for up to four weeks, 1-4 shifts per week. After the assignment, you will be available to work casually until a permanent role opens on an as-needed basis.

12 hour shifts 8-8
Pay $37.76 per hour (paid by Staffmax)

You will be trained and work with all or some of the equipment depending on your skill level. 

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Power Engineer 4th Class will be a member of the Maintenance team responsible for safely and effectively operating and repairing the facility utilities equipment, supporting the maintenance of production equipment, building systems, and grounds, and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of maintenance work.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of the following equipment: Chiller plants, air compressors and dryers, nitrogen generator, steam and hot oil boilers, RTU and MUA HVAC units, dust collection system, water softeners, reverse osmosis system, water chiller/heating loops including the water treatment and B3 vacuum systems and filter cleaning equipment and any other assigned equipment.

Ensure that work areas are always kept clean and tidy following the 5S assigned standards.

Basic preventative maintenance tasks throughout the plant such as (but not limited to) safely changing air filters for HVAC systems, water treatment tests and control methods for the water systems.

Provide basic maintenance support to production equipment outside of normal maintenance department hours, and as required within normal maintenance hours.
Ensure that clean filters are always available to the production department. Perform the initial cleaning after a filter change in a timely fashion and prepare filters for external cleaning process.

Assist the maintenance technicians with maintenance tasks during maintenance down days and as otherwise needed.

Assist and support the production teams as required and directed by team leaders or other production team members.

Ensure that necessary documentation, such as daily rounds sheets, is completed in a timely accurate manner and filed in order. 

Work with the computerized maintenance management system and ensure that the information contained within is relevant and up to date for the power engineering tasks.

Ensure that the power engineering department’s documentation system, including asset maintenance reports, technical drawings, manuals, and catalogues, are kept up to date on the appropriate electronic drive.

Complete research for plant systems and relevant parts required for repairs and projects. Works with vendors for applicable solutions and required spare parts.


Responsible for keeping current on all plant communications including, but not restricted to, emails, logbooks, bulletin boards and plant communications binders. Participate in the weekly production meetings.

Other duties and projects as assigned.
 


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of Grade 12 education.
  • Manitoba 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate (or higher).
  • A demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision and play an active role as a team member.
  • Good organization and record keeping skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
