POSITION SUMMARY:
As a key member of the Process team, the Process Engineer, reporting to the Process Manager, will play a pivotal role in various aspects of our operations. This includes providing essential support in production, ensuring plant safety, maintaining product quality and safety, driving process improvements, contributing to product development, and offering technical assistance to both the sales team and customers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Champion continuous improvement through a process-oriented and risk-based approach.
- Develop operational and quality procedures for production and recycling equipment, ensuring they are both safe and comprehensible for shop floor operators while meeting customer and owner requirements.
- Conduct training sessions for users, meticulously documenting the training process.
- Evaluate activities for compliance with established procedures, coaching for adherence or revising procedures as needed to align with best practices.
- Provide real-time assistance to Production Teams in resolving product quality and production efficiency issues safely, promptly, and efficiently.
- Lead the response to customer complaints by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities and implement and assess the effectiveness of improvement activities.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of all facets of the company's operations to identify and implement improvement actions.
- Stay informed about the business context, including suppliers, regulators, customers, industry technology, and trends, to support current production and growth opportunities.
- Utilize internal and external lab facilities for film testing of commercial products, development products, and other market-available films.
- Qualify new suppliers, processes, and raw materials.
- Collaborate with the Process Manager and Management Team to establish and monitor key performance and quality indicators.
- Perform activities within the framework of an ISO 9001 structure.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stay current on company communications.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree from a recognized Engineering program, preferably in Chemical Engineering; eligibility for registration with APEGM.
- Several years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a Quality Management System.
- Previous experience in polymer processing, or wound goods production is advantageous.
- Ability to independently develop, execute, and document improvement projects, ranging from workflow to new product development.
- Data literate, with the ability to analyze data from various sources to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal and excellent written and oral communication skills, with regular communication with process operators and senior management.
- Well-organized and capable of working with minimal supervision within a small, cross-trained team supporting continuous production.
