Staffmax is hiring Production Operators for our client, an established manufacturing company.

Location: Edmonton
Area: Downtown
Pay: $20 to $23 hr based on experience
Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
Contract Length: On-going with chance of permanent hire

Operators are responsible for manufacturing and packaging metal products for shipment as scheduled. They will transport materials between various areas and departments, performing their tasks efficiently and in accordance with established procedures, while adhering to all safety protocols and workplace policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently manufacture standard sheet metal products with a focus on quality.
  • Operate all equipment safely and effectively, including performing changeovers and preventative maintenance.
  • Set up machinery to ensure optimal quality performance.
  • Develop tools, shop aids, and procedures to complete a range of projects from simple to complex.
  • Provide recommendations for troubleshooting and root cause analysis of customer and product issues.
  • Assist and support other team members.
  • Foster trust and a sense of community within the team.
  • Propose ideas for continuous process improvement.
Competencies and Qualifications
  • 1 to 2 years of experience operating roll-forming, drill, or punch press machines (or multiple).
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand machine manuals, SOPs, metric tape, and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of safe packing methods.
  • Ability to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for identifying defects.
  • Well-organized, proactive, and positive approach in the workplace.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to use abdominal and lower back muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs for 50 feet, unassisted.
Preferred Knowledge/Participation
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing, 5S training).
  • Participation as a Health & Safety Committee Member in a manufacturing environment.
