Staffmax has teamed up with our clients to immediately hire an experienced Production Supervisor to join their Fullerton, California factory.

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Plant Manager as required and to ensure the smooth operation of all aspects of sushi production.  The selected candidate will lead a team of production staff to produce high quality food products in accordance with operating standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and plan the production of the Company's products in the JK959 Fullerton Commissary
  • Learn the production cycle from start to finish: rice cooking, vegetable and seafood preparation, rolling, packaging, and shipping in accordance to JK959 standard operating procedures and recipes
  • Working with the HR team, assist in the hiring, onboarding and training of new employees
  • Create labor and production schedules, optimizing coverage and ensuring the right mix of staff are available for each shift
  • Coach, lead and develop production team including the Team Leads, production staff and rice cookers
  • Supervise the floor and ensure smooth production flow, anticipate issues before they come up and provide solutions as necessary
  • Work with plant manager to determine ideal production and process flow, identify and address bottlenecks to maximize packs per hour while maintaining rigorous quality standards
  • Be a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Champion – prioritize putting out a safe, high-quality product over everything else.  Work and collaborate with on-site QA manager
  • Provide relief and coverage for Plant Manager and act as the leader when the Manager is away

Shift Details:

  • Commissary currently operates Monday through Saturday with an approximate 3AM – 3 PM shift.  Supervisor’s hours will vary in accordance to business needs and working with the Plant Manager to establish coverage – flexibility in working hours is recommended

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a cold refrigerated climate
  • College or University degree is desired but not necessary
  • 5 or more years of supervisory or management experience in a food processing environment
  • Verbal fluency in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Positive energy and personality with the ability to motivate teams and lead by example
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP experience
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office – Word and Excel
