If you're a hands-on quality leader who enjoys building strong programs, coaching a team and working with customers and suppliers, we'd love to hear from you.
In this role, you'll own the quality programs, processes and product specifications for a busy production operation. You'll make sure products consistently meet national and international standards and regulations. You'll report to the general manager and act as a key quality advisor across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading, maintaining and improving the organization's quality and safety management programs, including procedures, materials, packaging and process controls
  • Serving as the go-to contact for regulatory information, staying current on changing requirements and training employees on quality programs
  • Supervising and supporting the QA team, assigning work, reviewing lab test results and helping solve product specification issues
  • Working with customers, operations, sales/marketing and suppliers on product specifications, labelling, packaging, warehousing and operating procedures
  • Writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and preparing clear reports for management and customers
  • Overseeing sanitation programs, including checking how well cleaning works, assigning tasks and running audits
  • Managing service contracts with outside providers such as pest control and testing labs
  • Running internal, external, supplier and customer audits, finding corrective actions and following them through to completion
  • Responding to audit requests from customers and regulatory agencies
  • Hosting customer visits and presenting information sessions on operations and processes
  • Setting and communicating quality standards for incoming materials, and training suppliers and field partners on hygiene and quality expectations in a way that works for different language and literacy levels
  • Managing licensing and compliance record-keeping

What You Bring

  • A degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or a related science
  • 5+ years of varied quality assurance experience in a regulated production or processing environment, such as inspection, lab work, training and supervision
  • Strong knowledge of national and international quality and safety standards and regulations
  • Training in quality/safety management systems and auditing (certification is an asset)
  • Comfort with lab equipment and testing methods, such as pH meters, incubators and microbiological testing
  • Experience with sanitation monitoring tools and data tracking software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with flowcharting tools (e.g., SmartDraw) or AutoCAD is a bonus
  • Strong leadership, communication and people skills, with the confidence to work with staff, customers and government agencies
  • A sharp analytical mind and a practical, problem-solving approach
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

What Makes You a Great Fit

You're action-oriented, customer-focused and committed to quality and integrity. You build effective teams, motivate the people around you, learn on the fly and stay organized when things get busy.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is approximately $95,000 – $105,000 per year, depending on experience.

Work Environment

  • Mostly office-based (about 80%), with about 20% on the plant floor
  • Some exposure to noise, temperature changes and wet conditions in the plant (PPE provided)
  • Occasional outdoor work and travel, including some overnight trips
