Quality Control Specialist
Staffmax is currently looking for a Quality Control Specialist on behalf of one of our clients in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and quality-focused professional with experience in produce quality control, warehouse operations, inspections, and documentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the quality of inbound and outbound produce and ensuring products meet customer specifications and applicable federal guidelines.
Position Details
- Location: Winnipeg, MB
- Position: Quality Control Specialist
- Schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Days Off: Friday and Saturday
- Wage: To be discussed during the interview based on experience and knowledge
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality audits on inbound produce loads and prepare quality reports and documentation for warehouse managers and the sales team.
- Conduct quality checks on outbound produce to identify issues and communicate findings to the sales team.
- Review and understand customer-specific produce quality specifications and ensure products meet those requirements.
- Arrange and recommend CFIA inspections when required, particularly when inbound quality audits identify defects that may not meet federal guidelines.
- Conduct daily facility walks to identify aging products, quality concerns, and other issues with stored produce.
- Participate in the put-away planning process with the shipping and receiving team to effectively plan cooler space for incoming commodities.
- Assist with month-end inventory counts as required.
- Communicate quality concerns and recommendations clearly with warehouse, sales, shipping, and receiving teams.
- Follow company quality control procedures, food safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Perform additional duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in quality control, preferably within produce, food distribution, warehousing, or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of produce quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Understanding of customer-specific product specifications.
- Knowledge of CFIA requirements and federal food quality guidelines is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
- Ability to identify quality issues and communicate them effectively.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with warehouse and sales teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Compensation
Wage will be discussed during the interview and will be based on the candidate’s knowledge, qualifications, and relevant experience.
