Senior Training Officer

We are looking to hire a Bilingual Senior Training Officer for a Canadian non-profit organization that is working to create a better world for all young people. Where: Remote – MUST be able to travel to Ottawa, ON  

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000/year

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Responsibilities:

· Report to the Manager, Volunteer Mobilization and collaborate with various internal and external consultants.

· Develop, co-ordinate & deliver the volunteer training program such as pre-departure training and group debrie?ngs with returned volunteers.

· Design, develop, organize, implement, deliver, evaluate and revise training activities for volunteers participating in the Volunteer Cooperation Program and bilateral projects, including e-learning courses, self-brie?ng materials, synchronous virtual and in-person training;

· Deliver training sessions and content for all volunteers in both o?cial languages

· Administer logistics related to the training courses, including but not limited to registering volunteers on training, monitoring progress and completion of the volunteer training program, and communications with volunteers

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date data and documentation in the Information Management Systems, such as Salesforce, TalentLMS, and the Volunteer Cooperation Team and Volunteer Google Drive/Sites

· Manage a roster of facilitators to deliver volunteer training as required

· Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to develop and deliver training sessions to volunteers (i.e. Technical Advisors, Public Engagement and Fundraising, Security, Consultants, etc)

· Ensure volunteer training is relevant, engaging and meets the needs of the learners and of the projects

· Ensure the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion approach is integrated within volunteer training activities

· Collaborate with the Volunteer Mobilization Team Recruitment O?cers and Administrative O?cers to provide an e?cient volunteer journey for volunteers

· Provide relevant feedback observed during volunteer training to the Volunteer Mobilization team on volunteers as part of the continuing assessment process for volunteers

· Monitor and report on the results of training activities and participate in reporting as required

· Share results and feedback from training activities with stakeholders that contribute to training modules to ensure best practices are shared and lessons learned are incorporated

· Stay current with best practices in volunteer training, adult learning, group facilitation and online learning

· Act as an organization resource on adult education and training.

Qualifications:

· University degree in adult education, pedagogy, international development, social sciences or a related ?eld

· At least 3 years of experience in development, delivery and coordination, of training activities for adults, in-person and online

· Experience with learning management systems

· International volunteer or international work experience

· Strong group facilitation skills

· Strong organization, administration skills and attention to detail

· Strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration skills

· Intercultural sensitivity and communication skills

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings as required during training course delivery

· Innovative

· Active supporter of Gender Equality and values associated with volunteering for development.

 

Languages: Bilingual English/French (?uency essential).

 

Travel: Presence will be required in Ottawa 1-2x per month to deliver in-person volunteer training courses.
