In collaboration with the Payroll Supervisory, the Payroll Administrator will play a key role in processing the accurate and timely administration bi-weekly payroll and benefit administration

Location: Scurfield Blvd and Henlow Bay, Winnipeg
Pay rate: $23-25/hr
Term: September 2 to November 6, 2024. The temp would be provided with 3 weeks of training.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the payroll email address and provides exceptional customer services and responds to inquiries from staff as it relates to their pay. 
• Payroll preparation and processing including data entry, maintaining records, processing attendance information and processing deductions.
• Ensures accuracy of data in the payroll database and maintains the integrity of the payroll system
• Weekly time reconciliation 
• Calculate pay according to hours worked, incorporating leaves and overtime
• Calculate special payments i.e. employment insurance, severance, and issue Records of Employments
• Manage and calculate gross to net using payroll software
• Post payroll journal entries and complete monthly reconciliations for payroll ledger accounts, investigate and resolve any discrepancies. Assist in preparation of required payroll reports and monthly remittances
• Prepare annual tax forms for staff and external stakeholders
• Assist in preparation of year end reporting
• Perform maintenance and make recommendations for continuous improvement of payroll related processes and procedures
• Benefit administration for staff including enrolling new hires, termination of benefits and processing invoicing to staff for benefits during leaves.
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, the collective agreement and employment legislation. 
• The back-up for the Payroll Supervisor

Qualifications and Experience: 
Degrees, Diplomas & Trade Certificates:
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration/Finance/Payroll Administrator or a related field. Other combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification

Required 
• 2+ years of full cycle payroll experience.
• Experience in a payroll system accommodating a variety of payment types, rules, and exceptions.
• Advanced computer and word processing skills in MS Office Suite including: Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Thorough, comprehensive, knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and guidelines and Employment Standards 
Legislation

Preferred
Experience in ADP, preferably ADP’s Workforce Now.
• Experience working in an unionized environment
• Experience with benefit administration
