Truck Mechanic Apprentice / Technician II
Location: Stoney Creek, ON
Pay: $32–$34/hour
Schedule: Wednesday to Saturday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Position Summary
Staffmax Staffing & Recruiting is currently hiring a Truck Mechanic Apprentice / Technician II for our client in Stoney Creek, Ontario. This role is ideal for someone with truck or automotive mechanical experience who wants to build a career working on commercial trucks and trailers. You will receive hands-on experience with advanced systems while working alongside experienced technicians and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with diagnosis, overhaul, and repair of truck and trailer systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Support repairs to engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, PTO systems, and driveline components
- Service brake systems including ABS, steering, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems
- Repair starters, alternators, sensors, ECMs, ECUs, and related electronics
- Replace components such as turbochargers, injectors, cooling system parts, and fan clutches
- Prepare trade-in equipment and new units for delivery
- Identify parts required for repairs and complete service documentation
- Conduct inspections and road tests when required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Support additional shop projects as assigned
Qualifications
- 2+ years of tractor-trailer, truck, or related mechanical experience
- Currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program
- Must maintain apprenticeship registration in good standing
- 310S licence or automotive background considered an asset
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Valid Class G or Class 5 driver’s licence with ability to obtain DZ within 6 months
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
Physical Requirements
- Regular lifting up to 12 kg
- Frequent lifting up to 23 kg
- Occasional lifting up to 45 kg
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical work throughout the shift
- Strong visual awareness and safe work practices in an active shop environment
